The Recently Read posts are not typical book reviews. As a writer, I do not believe I should be reviewing the hard work of other writers. These posts are simply books I have recently read and enjoyed and will share with you. They will not always be crime books as I am trying to widen my reading selection. I hope you enjoy some of these with me.
Hopelessly Devoted to Holden Finn by Tilly Tennant
The problem is that Holden Finn is a twenty-three-year-old pop megastar with his boy band, Every Which Way, and has no idea she exists. Not only that, but half the women in the world want to be Mrs Finn, including Bonnie’s teenage daughter, Paige. The real men in Bonnie’s life do nothing but let her down, but a man you can’t possibly have can never do that… right? She’s safe inside her fantasy bubble.
Then Paige wins a radio competition to meet Holden and the band, and Bonnie’s carefully-constructed world starts to unravel. She is about to find out that you should be very, very careful what you wish for …
I haven’t read a chick-lit novel for a while and this was a nice return to them. In fact it has made me go in search of some more for my TBR list. Not that I need any more books adding to my TBR list!
My Goodreads review was short and to the point;
I wasn’t sure what to expect with a book about love and a pop star, but this was a wonderful, curl up with a warm drink kind of book. It wasn’t what I was expecting and it hit and warmed up nicely, the girly romantic spot just inside of me. Perfect!
It kind of says it all about how I felt about the book. To add to that, it was wonderfully written. The characters were warm and real. They weren’t two-dimensional fluff who just did as a story would need for them to do. For instance, fairly early on I was surprised by one of the characters reactions to an incident and it wasn’t because it was out of character for that specific character, but because I would have expected a different outcome from this kind of book I suppose. So, there was a wonderful realness about it that drew me in and kept me reading.
It is a girly book about pop stars, but it’s also a book about relationships. It was lovely!
